Blue Jay in the Snow

On my lunch hour and of an evening I do quick sketches – I did a quick splash of watercolor on the hummingbird. I think I just may do more of those practice pieces!
The original photos for the lunch sketches come from Facebook group: Indiana Birdograpy

We saw some snow and below freezing temps this week, which brought the birds to the feeders.
I am also working on a journal for Indiana parks I have visited. The painting is done… now to journal the pages for the first one.

We got a bit of icy weather and snow this week. That means more birds at the feeders.
Over my lunch hour, my favorite sketch this week is an eagle from John Baughman’s image on Facebook’s Indiana Birdography.

The complimentary colors of a Bluebird never disappoint!

I have begun a perpetual nature journal. However, I am an IT consultant and this week I was switched from many years working from a home office to 5 days smack in the middle of downtown Indy. What an adjustment. So this will curtail the amount of nature I am observing, but I still have the weekend bird count for Cornell University. Feeder birds may be the main pics until I can get out on a weekend.

Grandma has a mama raccoon who visits the feeders when she is raising her brood. It seemed appropriate that she should model for a first Christmas ornament!
